2008 Rulebook

NEW 2008 RULES & CHANGES;

* Change rule 1)c., page 2 to read: Members must present a notarized
application, grade card or proof of school enrollment (grades 9-12) and a
birth certificate (new members only) when paying membership for the
new season. Members/contestants will not be allowed to participate n any
CYRA sanctioned rodeo until all required documents are received.

* Change rule 17)d., page 8 to read: Each family will be required to
help at 1/3 of the total number of rodeos per season in order for members
to qualify to participate in finals of each season and be eligible for
any awards given by the association. Participation forms will be
provided to each family. It is not a requirement to help the entire rodeo.
However, if you choose to run the in-gate, you are expected to do that
for the entire event. i.e. Pee Wee, Jr., and Sr. barrels, not just one
 age division in that event.

* Change rule 6.), page 6 to read: After the designated call in dead
line is complete, a $10 late fee per contestant will be charged up to 24
hours after call in is over. An additional $10 will be added to each 24
hour period up to 48 hours prior to rodeo start time. For a 2 day
rodeo, rodeo start time is the start time of the first rodeo of the
weekend. NO ENTRIES will be taken after the conclusion of the 48 hours.

* Replacing rule 8) d., page 3 with: If a contestant/member will be
moving up to an older age division/group due to age on January 1st of the
upcoming year, they must compete in that age division starting with the
1st rodeo of the season after the previous season finals.

* Add to rule 7., page 10: Calves horns should not exceed 2 inches in
 length.

* Change rule 10, page 11 to read: Goats will be uniform in size. Pee
Wee goats are not to exceed 35 pounds.

* Replace rule 1., page 16 with: If a sheep falls, disqualifying the
contestant, the judge shall have the decision to award a re-ride at
 his/her discretion.

* Change rule 12, page 17 to read: When arena does not allow for a
standard pattern, the timer line will be placed at the first pole. In this
instance, crossing the time line will not disqualify the contestant.

* Add to rule 1., page 22: If a contestant does not have a partner, the
contestant may choose to rope with a contestant that has already roped
twice. If this happens, the contestant already roping 2 times is not
eligible to accumulate points. The contestant is eligible for pay back
only. Contestants are allowed to rope a maximum of 3 times.

* DUMMY ROPING - held outside of the arena (3-6 girls and boys)
       1. Equipment - Bale of hay with a calf head attached. Provided
 by the association.
       2. A line will be drawn behind the bale of hay to begin the
 roping competition.
       3. Each contestant will throw one (1) loop at the dummy. Each
contestant that catches will throw another loop from twelve (12) inches
farther back from the first line up to a distance of twelve (12) feet. The contestant withe the most consecutive catches for the distance will win. 4. If contestant steps on or crosses the line, that will be considered a miss. The previous throw and catch will stand as the contestant's last catch. 5. Contestants must have, and maintain control of the end of the rope. i.e. must still have a hold of the rope at the end of the throw. 6. Two (2) dummies may be set up and run at the same time, to expedite the rodeo. Entry Fee: $11.00 * Replace rule 7.) page 3 with: The RULES COMMITTEE will be the only people eligible to bring rule changes/additions to the voting members. All members are eligible to submit rule changes/additions to the RULES COMMITTEE. The RULES COMMITTEE will be responsible for researching all rule changes/additions submitted. It will be up to the RULES COMMITTEE to determine if the rule change/additions will or will not benefit the association, or may or may not pose a safety factor. The RULES COMMITTEE is required to explain their findings and decisions to the person submitting the rule and to the current board members. The dead line for all rule changes/additions is 30 days prior to the first day of finals in the current season. * All roping events will now have a 30 second time limit.
